Unofficially Graduated

Had not been posting anything much during my final year studies, almost nothing.
Not that I have nothing to blog and share but was probably too occupied.
Now that I am unemployed and too free,
here is a blog post nothing bout what happened the whole year, just what happened at the end :)

Happy unofficial graduation!!
(happened 2 weeks ago but I just got sometime to blog)

My course is the Second batch of Petroleum Geoscience.
Mind you my Dad had a tough time digesting what is the title of my Bachelor Degree.
This course is so specific (I'm unsure in a good or bad way)
that it's offered only in 2(?) universities worldwide

Anyways, here is a pic right after our final paper!!

This one taken at our famous Chancellor Complex.

credit on pic

And actually Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS's Chancellor Hall/ Complex looks like this~
The award winning architecture:

And this is another picture taken at the Information Resource Centre (IRC), or you can just call...library.
But we don't call it a library (maybe because we have a F1 Race Car inside..ok obviously not)

This is how the IRC actually looks like, I mean partially, this is probably 5% or less of the IRC:

And this last image was taken during batch Farewell Dinner.
If you see so many oddly dressed it's because the theme was Lights! Camera! Action!

In order to protect the privacy of people involved, that all about the end of my Undergraduate studies.
Results will be announced...tomorrow I guess?

Blog post is a little boring but in order to protect my privacy as well, that's all for now!
But I guess now I can start opening up about my life again.
I had been quite "decent" in Facebook as well, but ramble about my life so much on Twitter wtf

So any suggestion on the next move?
I'm desperately seeking for a job right now because I'm "leaching" from my parents Fml
So any openings for part time event crew, promoter, sales, documentation etc. in Kuching,
do email kuehmeilin@gmail.com

(even though my current Resume is impressive *ehem* but solely for Geologist/Geophysicist openings)

July

Finally, it is July!

Decided to write a short post for July because it has been
almost 5 years since I entered University!

Cannot remember the exact data but my batch is known as the July 2008 intake.

For now there is no longer July intake since the trimester system commenced.

Final year should be a very busy year right?

But I am overly excited for graduation and trips!

I am supposed to have so many works to do but I am procrastinating~

Thus I have all the time to blog but I don't have the pictures.

Wild adventures we had at Banding, lifetime memories.

Will blog about it once I get hold of the photos.

My only motivation now, is to work towards graduation.

Yours truly,

With Love,
Mei Lin

Final push, but not the end

Since this is my Final Year Final Semester for my Degree, I figured I would blog a little more frequently now that I am free of events and organizations, except the piling lab works and reports. In case one day I would be too busy to even remember I have a blog. Just recently I felt old, of course being the most senior for Undergraduate studies maybe among the factor but I just figured what wonderful time I had been through all these (almost) 5 years.

I experienced many things which shows me the values of life. For the life I have lived thus so far, I have no regrets. Given this chance I will try to live an even better life and create more memories after leaving the University. 5 years is not very short, neither it is long. For all the things I've done and learned, I truly surprise myself when I look back.

5 years ago I remembered how much I wanted to leave home, create my own adventure. The furthest I have been on my own was probably my grandparents' 'Kampung' (village). Even during that time I used to beg my parents to let me stay. I am the eldest and the only daughter, probably instead of my 2 younger brothers, people who I can linger well are most probably my female cousins. This adventurous inner me, comes from my Mum :) My Dad who has aerophobia (phobia of flying, probably because he was sent away to Canada alone) would always prefer staying at home. Just recently he got better due to frequent flights he had to take for the sake of his children ^^ Mum like me, has always been the one who wants to explore places even when her health might not permit.

Both my parents came during the registration day. When they finally left, I didn't cry at all. I was not scared, for quite a very long time I was not homesick. I look forward to many adventures ahead. Dad was particularly worried, for first few months of Foundation Studies he called everyday, but he will always let me know how much he trusts me to be independent haha. Being on Scholarship is a blessing, I get to be home every semester, with my flights sponsored. There was once I bought my flight without my parents knowing, asked my cousins to fetch me from the airport and arrived home as a surprise for my parents, it was for Mother's Day. Imagine how surprised my parents were, they thought I was actually my cousin. Mum's expression when she saw me that night, I will never forget :) It was probably during my Second year that I got so sick of this place, this university in the middle of the jungle, looking at the same people, same buildings. I missed home so much, I flew back home during study week, for the whole week I stayed at home and didn't step out. After that, rather than being homesick, most of the time I was only constantly worried about my parents' health. For my parents who always wish the best of me, I am grateful. For this final push, I will try my best ^^

When talking about University, your friends are like your family, especially when you are far from home and the University is isolated :D Throughout all these years, I met many people. Coursemates, Events colleagues and other Affiliations. For having the same roommate for 5 years though we've never met before, are not coursemates, having nothing much in common but stayed in harmony for all these years, I shall consider both of our tolerance levels are quite high (pun not intended) :D For friends I have made throughout this journey, and people who I neglected due to conflicts. Whether or not our paths will cross again in the near future, I hope we all learn from mistakes. For those who I have not remembered for only having a glance, for those who we have been avoiding each other, I hope you live your life well and I have never got any hatred towards anyone. For all the misunderstandings and those moments when I had to take my position in between two sides, I would like to remain neutral. Throughout these 5 years, I made new friends, lost some and learned about people who really care. Even outside the university, due to my other commitment, I've get to meet people from all over the world ^^

Heard about the term CC (Campus Couple)? Learning about the importance of family after I've been away, knowing the value of friendships and learning about the human behavior, of course I also fell into the trap of love. Being in love, being out of love, being in love with the wrong person, destroyed friendships due to love. I am not a perfect person, no one is. But being able to experience all those at this age, I have seen enough heartbreaks. Love is not simple and before you plan to care for someone else, it is best to care for ourselves, for who would love you if you don't love yourself. Perhaps I have came to temporarily forget about this love towards man but use it to appreciate my family and friends more. I still believe that when there is fate, when it comes, it will just be the right moment. These tests, I have learned from them :)

Other stuffs I've experienced throughout these 5 years? Not that I skipped uncountable lectures (which I did), not that I failed any subjects (which I never did), not that I've cheated in quizzes, tests, exams (I guess we all did) but there are just things that not many of us will experience. Interesting things we did at the UTP lake, illegally climbing into the Swimming pool, dropped a subject just before the final exam, flew to Korea when all my coursemates where doing their 10 days Fieldwork, attend to a trail in UTP court as victim, wrote an email to UTP's Rector and the email was forwarded to the Department Heads, handling Malaysia's sole fansite for an idol and many other bittersweet memories, for me to keep & for you (not) to find out :)

Alright back to my assignments, sorry for the abrupt ending :D Might just post up some photos on my next post, this lengthy wordy post surely bores you :)

Cheers to more memories and experiences ahead! ♥

With love,
MeiLin

Short one

Just a short update before I go missing again for the whole weekend. Tomorrow is the beginning of my mid semester break! 4 days break including Saturday and Sunday. Actually doesn't make much difference because I usually have 3 days break since I am free on Friday. Parents and brother on the way to KL now and I will be meeting up with them in KL tomorrow morning. Brother flying off to India on Friday night. Will be busy all 4 days because I will be bringing parents around Ipoh on Saturday and Sunday. And next week I will be having presentation, test and due date for lab report. This, is not an ordinary break. How am I supposed to cope? Hmmmm. And anyone who knows which oil & gas companies offering internship position please let me know. No placement yet T__T

Exactly....okay I am off nerding on some Matlab stuffs. Programming is fun. Don't know why I am starting to regret this whole Geoscience thing. Because I can't get a job?? Or because I am starting to loose interest? Hmmmm... Please..please...please just let me get a freaking internship.

For freedom

Done with my final exam! Yeayyyy! :D

This semester I think I did particularly bad.

I had 4 papers for finals.

2 of them I came out early.

First paper was 2 hours earlier and

second paper I came out an hour earlier.

Not because I was so God-like but

because I really don't know what to write.

For the last paper, I didn't bother to think anymore.

I just submitted it half blank cause

I was already physically and mentally exhausted.

Alright enough about my final exam!

After our paper we decided to take some photos for Raya.

And at the same time to celebrate the beginning of freedom. LOL

Added on some images of UTP lake near V6.

Please take out or repost with credits because I am too lazy to do watermark.

Enjoy!

P/s:  I absolutely love large images in blogs, so bear with it if they load a bit slow.

And, 1 more week till South Korea!

Stay tuned! :)

P/s: Ikram, if you are reading this. Camwhore betol you had 3 pics with girls. Hahah

Picblog-the pilot

Summary of 4 September 2011 in pictures.

1. Pan mee lunch

2. Being a sleepy head

3. Revision

4. Lots and lots of highlighting

5. Admiring my colour pens wtf

6. Spirals bolognaise for dinner

7. Some useless exam sheet

End. Sleep.

My yellowboard

Enough of studying for today

Sign off the day with a camwhore pic

yes those behind are my courses outline....

written on my cupboard's doors.

No worries, I do that every semester,

using non permanent marker.

They are great "yellowboards" you know..

Much clearer in real life, I edited the pictures.

Not because I had dark eye circles,

but because I fell in love with lomo effects :)

I overslept every single day of my study week,

even when I sleep early wtf

Like, everyday 10 hours of sleep,

and study on 3 to 4 hours, the rest of the day,

take nap again, or Youtube-ing, play games wtf

Tomorrow going for facial, yeayyyy

I couldn't say a day of relaxation of days of stresses,

cause I had been actually enjoying since day one.

Ehehehehe....

you'll know why if you read my previous post.

Lots of love, Nites

What to do?

Perfection. Google you're doing it wrong.

Well, not about looking for my things.

But currently I am so off mood of studying.

Been thinking about some problem with my course withdrawal, and holidays.

Yea...had been asked here and there about my vacation plans.

Feeling very annoyed with my studies currently.

Like it makes no difference having lecturers.

If they are only there to make the question papers.

Then you have to find all the materials from the internet.

And this seemed endless cause you got no idea what is going to be questioned.

I wish I could Google up all the exact answers to the past year papers.

I can't even find the answer on Google wtf

What.should.I.do?

Better sleep. Nites

Hang in there!

Daddy sent me this. How cute! Thank you so much Daddy...

It is like he knows I am facing so much worries.

I didn't tell him anything.

Because I know if I am worried,

he will be 10 times more worried about me.

Yikes, maybe he reads my blog :)

Totally missing home.

Am in a holiday mood, my first paper in 3 days.

Having 4 papers but I had only studied for 1,

which is f*cking 2 credit hours while the rest is 3 credit hours.

I am so dead....I know....my time management sucks max.

Daddy if you are reading this,

yes I curse...

That's not me

You see how amazing is Photoshop?
Well I only did some blur, diffuse and colour changes.
Okayyy maybe add on the eyelashes and contact lenses.
But hey, do you feel tricked by pretty profile pictures already?

Damn this week so busy.
But all I can think of is The Sims Social,
I think many are crazy bout this in Facebook now,
and whatever designing work.
Sometimes just thought I am truly at the wrong side of the world.

Okay back to my essay writings.

A visit to UM's Geology Department

Last Friday, on 12th of August, we had a trip to the Geology department of University Malaya (UM).
Later on in the evening, we had Iftar at Gombak.
I edited these pictures at 5am so pleaseeee scroll down slowly.
Kamsahamnida~

Need no introduction, the UTP bus

Arrival at UM's Geology department

Was welcomed by lecturers and a few students. UM students are on break.
Only some stayed doing their researches.

Had a briefing by a lecturer. Was given the overview of the courses offered in UM.

This lecturer is quite funny, his class must be fun. lol

The mini museum in UM geology department

We were divided into 2 groups for the tour around the labs.

Rocks sample collected. Kalah (loose) UTP wooo~

Had a demo by UM technician in the Thin section preparation lab

Just for display~

Again, for display only~

In the geochemistry lab

Hydrology lab~

Visiting the mini museum~

some Q&As~

Later on we stopped at Midvalley.
There was a fire at Jusco. Firefighters all around. We went in anyways~

Had Popeye's for the first time. Worst fast food ever.
And I thought Marrybrown was bad.

Your's truly with terrible eyebags, cause I slept only 2 hours prior to the trip T___T

On our way to Gombak!

Had Iftar at Pha Pha restaurant

The fish, I don't know fish names. Pardon me cause I don't really eat fish. Not bad.
Rate 3.5/5

I guess this is the signature dish.
The best tomyam so far. Even my Afircan friend loves it.
Rate 5/5! Must try

This is some chicken dish. very very very super duper spicy, to me.
Can't really taste it out, my tongue got numb once I took it.
Rate 2/5

The vege was so so, some seemed raw, and hard.
Rate 3/5

Fruits I got nothing to say. You know, fruits~

On the way back to UTP, it was raining and the bus was so cold.
We all snoozed off~

P/s: There will be more posts like this in the future! I promised some adventures earlier on.
Well I had lots but I just don't have the camera to take down every moment.
Now I have one so stay tuned for an almost-good-blogger who can now update more frequently!
